St. Patrick's Day 09

Sorry I've posted this soo late! But here is our St. Patty's Day gift to Oma. Oma is actually Irish, despite that the kids call her Oma. And every year, she puts on a spectacular party for us on St. Patrick's Day. This year we decided to give Oma her own personal and most tastey pot of gold!

First we cut the oreo cookies in half (do use a knife, I broke many trying to just pull them apart). I didn't have sucker sticks, so I used popsicle sticks and the inside of the oreo acts as the glue.

  • I melted some white chocolate in a double boiler and coated the cookies. At first I tried to dip the cookies in the chocolate, but found that they just kept falling apart..and I got a tummy ache too because you know I ate the bitties without thinking twice!
  • So the better method of avoiding a tummy ache, is to spoon the chocolate over the cookie while spinning the popsicle stick.
  • Set the wet cookies on a sheet of wax paper to dry. When they were dry, I made another batch of melted white chocolate and added green food colouring. I piped on the clover and sprinkled green sparkles over top. When this dried, I took a tooth pick to scrape away any sparkles that I didn't want. Hope she likes it!! mmmmm....
We also painted the tiny terra cotta pots (3/$1 at Dollarama) and the gold bars and in the bulk section at Zehrs.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  1. Only 23 minutes until St. Patrick's Day from where I am: in Ireland of all places;-) Just stopped by to say thanks for your comment on my silhouette mugs. And how fitting that I land on a post with a Paddy's Day craft...
    Greetings from Ireland!!!
